PHS 50th Reunion

As you can see, everyone was having a happy time getting ready for the official class photo. Thanks to Dallas Brickhouse for taking the photo and getting them printed. From the comments received, everyone enjoyed the fellowship, entertainment, and food. It was so nice to see each other. In five years, we'll do it again so save the date! (September ??, 2015)

Jack Brinn writes from Wyoming

Fellow Classmates,
I won’t be attending the reunion primarily because I’m teaching part time at the University of Wyoming this semester. Why Wyoming? For starters, our daughter and her two sons live in Laramie where she was born when I was a student at UW. Next, we still have strong ties to friends from graduate school days out here, including a couple from Elizabeth City.

Finally, we have a house in northern Colorado near Red Feather Lakes, which is about an hour away from Laramie, and Peggy and I are transitioning to it. Upon retirement from ECU after almost 38 years, I offered to to teach at UW, and they accepted. Given the driving time to UW, I can overnight at our daughter’s home if the need arises, especially when the road is closed by wind or snow. So I’ve been here most of the summer, playing Mr. Fix-it, enjoying the outdoors, and refining an old photography hobby, and will remain until sometime in December. Depending on the season, we have deer, elk, moose, coyotes, bobcats, bears and mountain lions as “neighbors.” The summer was a wet one and the wild flowers were extraordinary. On clear nights the sky is brilliant with stars and the Milky Way looks like a long wispy cloud overhead.

Peggy still works for a retirement investment firm in Cary, much of which can be done on line. While she has to be in the office periodically, she travels to and from Colorado, working from here as easily as if she were in Greenville. Our three boys, each with one son, reside in NC, so Peggy “grandmothers” them as much as possible. We’re anticipating that all will come to Colorado for Thanksgiving. Some of this countryside as well as family images are on my Web site: http://redfeatherimages.com.Best wishes to all, and I hope everyone has a great time at the reunion.___Jack Brinn

Planning Meeting September 11, 2010

The Class of 1960 Planning Meeting was held at Lenna's home on September 11, 2010. We had 8 class members present. We discussed our final assignments fine tuning them as best we could. Then we enjoyed delicious cake, coffee, and juice. Thank you, Lenna, for opening up your home for us. Afterwards some of us went to the Indian Summer Festivities in town and went on the Periauger for a short sail.
